About Arava
Arava is a drug designed to treat rheumatoid arthritis manufactured by Aventis Pharma. Unfortunately, Arava has been associated with the following:

Severe hepatotoxicity
Lymphomas, and other hematologic, gastrointestinal and skin reactions
Liver toxicity
Stevens Johnson Syndrome
Arava was first sold in the US in 1998. According to Public Citizen, from 1998 to 2001 Arava was associated with 130 severe hepatic reactions and 22 deaths. By 2001 the European Medications Evaluation Agency was reporting severe liver reactions to Arava. In July 2001 the FDA required information regarding severe liver damage to be added to Arava?s warnings. Public Citizen petitioned the FDA for removal of Arava from the market in 2002 based on the dangerous reactions and the fact that safer drugs are available for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Many lawsuits have already been filed related to injuries linked to Arava.
